Critical Success Factors In A Global Economy

“CHALLENGING TIMES” We all appreciate how much our issues and concerns are universal and that many of us operate under Governments who take a similar approach to “disability”.

The strong "human rights" approach fostered by the "Social Model" of disability is apparent in the work currently being undertaken by the United Nations Ad Hoc Committee for a Convention on Human Rights for disabled persons".  Inclusion into society through mainstream paid employment as opposed to segregated employment is being strongly promoted.

Whilst "mainstreaming" is a shared objective of all members of Workability International, the process to achieve such an objective must allow a range and/or a combination of strategies which take into consideration the local economic and employment situations together with "employers" willingness to employ disabled people. Countries are at different stages in their development and have to be responsive to very differing environments.

Amongst its values - Workability International
• Encourages its members’ to benchmark its outcomes against best practice worldwide;
• Respect the diversity of the cultural values and economic circumstances of its members.

Regardless of the model used, organizations can identify critical success factors to guide and measure the strategies they adopt. At this conference we will learn from the experience of others across the whole of the Workability International regions and take advantage of the lessons they learned on the way and emulate their successes.

Conference Programme:

The objective of the Conference is to review, share and identify the key success criteria in the field of employment and work, which are necessary for the present and immediate future within a global economy, for Business Services, Affirmative Businesses and Providers of Services and Direct Employment for people with disabilities. This includes organisations which extend their activities beyond people with disabilities to other groups who are also disadvantaged in the world of employment and work.
