Holidays and Holidays (4 weeks Annual Leave) Amendment Bill
12 May 2003
by Tess Casey

A couple of people have asked if we are going to make a submission on these Bills. The Holidays Bill is proposing to:...

 provide minimum pay rate for employees working public holidays
 allow the accumulation of 15 days sick leave
 separate bereavement leave
Submissions close on 30 May

The Holidays (4 weeks Annual Leave) Amendment Bill is proposing to make four weeks’ annual leave for employees a minimum statutory obligation.  Submissions close on 6 June.

VASS will make a submission if we have a clear mandate from members over the issues.  If you have specific issues about the proposals please let me know what they are and your reasons for supporting or opposing them by Tuesday 20 May.  You are welcome to ring me if you don’t have time to write anything down.
