WHAT'S HAPPENING AT INSIGHT LEARNING ACADEMY ??

Programmes are running smoothly at all Insight centres – current students are progressing well with their unit standards & qualifications, and we have heaps of new students starting (we take enrolments throughout the year). We’ve also had a number of students leaving us, and going on to employment and further training, some going on to University & Polytech, which is great. A number of students have obtained employment in the Care & Support sector, the Early Childhood Education Sector, plus a variety of other career opportunities. The team at ILA are looking forward to a successful 2009 training year.

2007 Triumphs

Insight Learning Academy has had two prestigious awards presented in 2007 – one to a tutor and one to a student. As the Academy is relatively small in comparison to the majority of Private Training Establishments, this is an outstanding achievement for the Academy.

ACE Aotearoa (Adult Community Education), during Adult Learners’ Week, celebrated the achievements of one of Insight's New Plymouth staff (Lillian Gibson – tutor, Women’s Positive Learning) by awarding her their:

Exceptional Adult Educator Award 2007

In their comments, the judges observed:

“Lillian has been tutoring with Women’s Positive Learning for the past 15 years. She has the ability to see potential in people and to bring out that potential so they can turn their lives around for a more positive future whether it is in training, employment or life in general. She is not only a tutor but a great person. There are so many of her students and other people within the community she helps and supports by going out of her way and thinking nothing of it.”

Lillian’s award was presented by the Hon Harry Duynhoven MP.

The NZAPEP (New Zealand Association of Private Education Providers) awarded to one of Insight’s Hamilton students (Gene Calder, Early Childhood Development and Care Programme), their:

Student of the Year for 2007 Award

In their summing up of the entries the judging panel noted that “Gene is multi-skilled at managing a variety of tasks whilst learning and using new information. She has the respect of her peers and her tutors because of her personal qualities of empathy and ability. She also uses her considerable artistic skills to make resources for use in her chosen field which she pursues with a focus on high standards consistently delivered.”
