Jean Crane
Jean Crane joined Insight Learning Academy January 2004 as the
Course Tutor for ‘Caring 4 Young Children’. She brought with her
more than 40 years of diverse experience in the field of Early
Childhood and Adult Education. Her qualifications cover Early
Childhood Education, Adult Teaching, Learning and Assessment,
and NZ Community (Enrolled) Nursing.
Jean lived in Fiji for over 33 years and worked for 10 of those
years for the University of the South Pacific in 12 Pacific
Island Countries as the Coordinator of the Pacific Preschool
Teachers Certificate Programme.
Prior to this appointment she managed, for many years, her own
Preschool of 80 children. For fifteen years she presented for
Radio Fiji, a twice-weekly Kindergarten of the Programme and for
two years a children’s’ creative craft programme for Fiji TV.
Jean has conducted many ECE Workshops sand Seminars, presented
papers at several International Early Childhood Eduction
Conferences and had work published. She enjoys poetry writing
and has complies a collection of poems reflecting her travels in
the Pacific. In 2000 she worked with the Marshall Islands
Government in the compiling of a Basic Curriculum for use in
their Early Childhood Education Centres throughout the Republic.
Since returning to New Zealand Jean has carried out ECE
consultancy work in the Pacific region for NZAID.
During the time Jean has been with Insight Learning Academy she
has worked hard at up-grading the ’Caring 4 Young Children’
course into a user-friendly programme. She is very involved in
the progress of all her students and works closely with them to
support and encourage them as they each embark on their own
wonderful journey of discovery.
