Bessie (centre) accompanied by her proud Whanau
Bessie Makiha enrolled with Insight Learning Academy with low quals and little self esteem. During her time here she gained self confidence, motivation and communication skills, and developed a better attitude towards other people.
Bessie has a real passion to care for others, and to cook. She started work experience as a kitchen hand at Ohinemuri House in Paeroa. Showing such good skills that she gained employment part time.
She’s presently awaiting training in care giving with more hours.
While with us Bessie achieved her National Certificate in Employment skills, NCEA level 1 and NCEA level 2.
We are very proud of Bessie’s achievements.

Wendy Anne Oka's Success Story

Wendy Anne Oka enrolled with Insight Learning Academy 3 years ago to upskill for work.
In November 2007 Wendy started off working at Ohinemuri Home & Hospital doing work experience as a Carer.
In 2008 she was offered employment in caregiving and has since gained her Certificate and badge in Support of the Older Person, so is now a fulltime care assistant.
Wendy has achieved a lot at Ohinemuri Home and enjoys the atmosphere created by residents and staff, who have helped her in many ways. She loves her job and is well respected.
Wendy said without the encouragement from Staff at Insight she would never have done work experience in the first place.
